On Sunday May 5th, 2024 at 12 at contemporary art Gallery Ghetto Et Cetera in Venice (Campo del Ghetto Nuovo 2919) the personal exhibition“The Thread of the Speech” will open: a personal exhibition by Barbara Ortelli Pin, curated by Gabriella Pastor.

The exhibition features 30 small size artworks created between 2023 and 2024, divided into 4 categories: Cosmos, Nature, Venice e Various.

Her artworks have been created according to Joomchi, an ancient Korean art consisting in the working of mulberry bark which, when treated, becomes rough paper on which Barbara Ortelli Pin can create real works of art. What is striking, in addition to the artist’s impressive virtuosity and technical skills, is that one begins by reading the works and ends up with the impression of being “read” by them instead, as each art piece evokes in the viewer an emotion, an experience, a personal fact. This is an inversion to which we are not accustomed, but it is striking and makes us fall in love with each work.

Gabriella Pastor writes about her: “Barbara Ortelli Pin therefore decides to resume her experience in the production of textiles by embroidering on paper without outlining sheer representations, but simply following the veins and spaces created by the paper itself. While developing this ancient technique, the author experiments with a new way of expressing her aptitude by creating, through the color of yarns, many evocative and enchanting images. Free emotions, dense with the innate desire of that artistic vein always present in her soul.

Thus, some incredibly fascinating artworks are born, for which any title would seem almost reductive. Her manual skills somewhat lost in time are recalled thanks this way of making art; nature as the matrix and human inspiration as its interpreter.”
