returns to Venice, a guaranteed appointment of our gallery, like a holiday that fills us first with expectations and then with a great variety of emotions.
In this new appointment, entitled “True Colors of Venice”, the Trieste painter presents 20 oils on canvas representing the lagoon of Venice at different times of day and night. Unlike his previous exhibitions, this time the viewer’s attention is divided between light and architecture. Fabio Colussi has studied and deeply admires the palaces of the lagoon city, and we can understand his respect seeing that he represents the architectural elements in the most detailed way possible.
Fabio Colussi’s paintings are postcards that directly speak to our souls. They are the magical aura of a city we know well and with which we are all deeply in love.
About him, Arch. Marianna Accerboni, curator of the exhibition, writes: “A Master of the Luminism counterpoint, Fabio Colussi is able to recreate with his delicate, measured lyric vein the charm of Venice and its sea. His views are characterized by a subtle Neo-romanticist inclination interlaced to both a personal and emotional chromatic vein and a great technical ability. In this way, the Artist is able to capture the indescribable magic light of the Serenissima and the serenity of its lagoon, entrusting us with a corner of the world where we can still dream, thanks to the invaluable virtuosity of this Poet of Landscapes.”
Gabriella Pastor, who has introduced the Artists, writes about him: His technique, combined with his outstanding ability to reproduce every slight nuance of sunsets as well as blue Summer mornings in opposition to the veiled colors of the lagoon sea, transfer the stillness and peace of an almost ethereal beauty, giving a dreamlike touch to each landscape.”
THE ARTIST
Fabio Colussi Fabio Colussi was born in Trieste where he lives and works.
In a certain sense he is a self-taught artist, as his style has been formed through the study of the great Trieste painters such as Barison, Zangrando, Flumiani and Grimani. He paints his early watercolours at the age of four, later he approaches tempera and acrylics, and successively, in the early Nineties, he paints oils on canvas and on board, now his favourite technique that he has never abandoned. To make his paintings he draws inspiration from the sketches that he jots down in a notebook which he always has with him and that sometimes are implemented, as far as architectures are concerned, by photographic notes.
Colussi is present with his works in private collections in Italy and abroad (United States, Germany, Spain, Belgium, France, Australia and Dubai). He has successfully exhibited at national and European level.
