Il passato nel presente: the personal exhibition by Barbara Ortelli Pin

“In this exhibition, Barbara Ortelli Pin maintains her dual identity: as an artisan, thanks to her masterful use of the Joomchi technique, and as an artist, guided by the textures created for her textile interventions: each painting is still a novel in itself, where the main characters take over and lead their author wherever they wish through shapes, colours, and three-dimensionality. It is in this past that we recognize a new present: geometry that, once being the frame, now almost becomes the protagonist. In the 2024 exhibition “The thread of the speech,” colours used to dominate the works, arousing emotions and inspiration in the viewer. Background and artistic creation worked in synergy, and the final message struck at first glance. In these new works, we see that Barbara Ortelli Pin knows how to create the same dance starting from shapes: circles, squares, rectangles – isolated or intersecting – guide us and instinctively transport us to a well-defined place – a field of daisies, a residential neighbourhood, in front of a pre-Columbian mask.
