“Dig Inn”
Donatella Chiara Bedello has recently given us a new, highly detailed painting: “Dig Inn,” size 100×70 cm.
it’s absolutely new. After a long series of shops filmed from the outside and “peeked” inside through their open doors and transparent windows, now unexpectedly we are inside. What is surprising and amazes us, over and above the precision of her brushes, her warm and bright colors, the thousand details to discover one after the other, is that, while changing perspective, Donatella Chiara Bedello remains faithful to the theme she has chosen for her paintings. We could recognize a “Bedello” in a thousand, and I dare say this is her pop side that we all appreciate.
We don’t want to talk about the atmosphere of this painting, because it’s something that you cannot explain. All the visitors who are enchanted in front of her paintings at the gallery agree. It’s a magic how she manages to make us feel like we are inside this bar, since the first sight we can listen to the shop assistant’s voices, consulting and describing the ingredients to the client on the left, the radio in the background, the very soft snoring of the sleeping child. The coins clinking in the customer’s hand on the right. But not only the hearing is involved: we can smell the traditional scent of freshly baked bread and the mouth watering when we spot the product we’re going to buy.
