“Venezia through a Venetian’s eye”: the photographic book by Federico Povoleri

Federico Povoleri will talk about his book “Venezia through a Venetian’s eye” on Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at 11 am at the Gallery.

“Probably you will not believe me; however, Venice the “Grand Old Lady” is a n invisible city. I know this does not sound convincingabout a place that parades its beauty, shines with culture and presents itself like a trophy…”.
Photographer Federico Povoleri is a native Venetian and knows his hometown like almost no one else. With his black-and-white photographs, he captures an atmosphere of the lagoon city that is usually lost in the buzz of the tourist crowds. His experiences and knowledge of the city allow him to capture motifs that we seem to know, and yet show Venice to us in a new light.
His book of photographs becomes a wistful declaration of love for his hometown.

The presentation curated by the author will take place in the context of the exhibition “Venezia: Prospettive“, personal exhibition by the friulian painter Lucia Sarto with the collaboration of the venetian photographer Federico Povoleri.
