Venice: Perspectives – personal exhibition by Lucia Sarto with the collaboration of Federico Povoleri
Venice: Perspectives, personal exhibition by Lucia Sarto with the collaboration of Federico Povoleri, will be opened on Sunday, March, 10th, 2024 at 12pm. The artists and the authors of the critic texts. the art historian and critic dott.ssa Francesca Mezzatesta and Gabriella Pastor.
One year has passed since when Donatella Chiara Bedello had the idea of this art project. She meant to celebrate Venice’s birthday with a great exhibition featuring two excellent artists whom she highly esteems: the painter Lucia Sarto and the photographer Federico Povoleri.
Both of these artists are actually not only able to feel the heart of our city, but also and above all to describe it thanks to their ability and talent. By observing their artworks, we have the chance to seize “intimate” moments of a city which shows herself to everybody but thoroughly reveals its soul to only a few people: those who choose to live it or to visit it far from the over-crowded touristic paths.
Lucia Sarto is a well-known character of our gallery: her realistic romantic views have been exhibited in various successful personal exhibitions, and the light in her paintings is infused with such mastery that the gondolas, the water in the canals, the flowers on the balconies look like moving. Her paintings look like movies.
On the other hand, we have recently met Federico Povoleri, yet immediately fallen in love with his photographs. He loves telling stories, and as in a well-written story, he knows how to frame views with his camera, in which no detail is random or useless, yet every aspect contributes to the narration: perspective, lights, shadows, people, contrasts. He chooses to shoot black-and-white photographs to tell about an unusual Venice, which he inhabits and lives every day, and provides cross sections of an everyday life usually reserved to the people who are really capable of observing and living Venice.
The exhibition features 12 canvases painted by Lucia Sarto in acrylic/oil, some of which are large, and 3 black and white photographs by Federico Povoleri.
Venice: Perspectives will be visitable at the gallery and online until March 27th, 2024, from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 1pm and from 3pm to 6pm, closed on Monday and Saturday afternoon. Free entry.
The photobook “Venezia: Through a Venetian’s Eye” by Federico Povoleri and the art catalogue “Venezia: Perspectives” by Lucia Sarto will be available for purchase at the gallery.

PRESENTATION OF “VENEZIA THROUGH A VENETIAN’S EYE”
FEDERICO POVOLERI’S PHOTO BOOK
Federico Povoleri will present his book “Venezia through a Venetian’s eye” on Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at 11 at the Gallery.
Photographer Federico Povoleri is a native Venetian and knows his hometown like almost no one else. With his black-and-white photographs, he captures an atmosphere of the lagoon city that is usually lost in the buzz of the tourist crowds. His experiences and knowledge of the city allow him to capture motifs that we seem to know, and yet show Venice to us in a new light.
His book of photographs becomes a wistful declaration of love for his hometown.
