The new version of the Gallery opens with the exhibition Yesterday by Donatella Bedello. It is a deliberate tribute to the founder of the Gallery (here you can find our story), who has recently left the executive part to Alice and Klaudia to dedicate herself full time to painting.
Most of these works were exhibited in Trieste, in the delightful Saletta Hammerle, from June 3rd to July 16th, 2021. In addition, among others, there is “Chelsea Guitars”, which she ended a couple of days before our show.
Donatella Chiara Bedello was born in Turin in the ’50s and for her whole life she dedicated herself to art: watercolors, painting on cloth, sets for theatrical performances, and then this art gallery. Her artistic vein, dormant in the 20 years she spent focusing on the promotion of other artists, at one point began to pulse again, and found its dimension in the hyperrealistic representation of the windows of small New York shops.
Her paintings attract for many reasons:
– The perfection and care with which all the details, even the smallest ones, have been painted.
– The curiosity aroused by these details, which is always satisfied: you do not get bored by observing them, every time you notice a new detail.
– The choice of subjects: it takes us back to a local dimension, these are “historical” shops run by the same family for generations, where you enter knowing you will find what you are looking for, along with human warmth and advice, as opposed to impersonal department stores.
– Bright, vibrant colors.
In Yesterday, Donatella Chiara Bedello opens windows on other worlds, allowing us to dream and linger over each detail, and as a meditation session it releases us from the everyday stress. They are canvases which never bore: every gaze reveals a detail, a reflection, a shadow we still hadn’t noticed. We are proud to host this exhibition and we are sure you will appreciate it too.
